چکیده
Studies were conducted to know the damage potential and effect of insecticides on leaf area feeding larval mortality common Mormon butterfly, Papilio polytes Cramer in homestead garden germplasm center Patuakhali Science Technology University (PSTU) campus laboratory, Department Entomology, PSTU, Patuakhali, Bangladesh during October December 2016. Ten Citrus host plants such as Kagoji lime-BAU-1, BAU-2, BAU-3, BAU-4, BARI kagoji, elachi lime, sweet orange, jamir pumelo used study materials. To determine effects mortality, five treatments viz., T1 = Voliam flexi 300SC @ 0.5 ml/l water, T2 1.0 water T3 Bioneem Plus T4 T5 control applied. Under natural field conditions, highest percentage infestation was recorded followed by malta while lowest kagoji 23 30 November, At top canopy, orange (56%), BAU-4 (8%). middle jambura (12%). lower BAU-3 (40%), significantly infested leaves per branch observed (51.39%) lime (10.86%). canopies, no significant difference among different citrus varieties. The (6%) consumed 4th instar larva (Voliam water) treated leaf, consumption found (control) at 3 HAT. percent (100%) larvae plant, (70%) plant. No untreated (T5) plant.

Behavioural mimicry in flight path of Batesian intraspecific polymorphic butterfly Papilio polytes.
Batesian mimics that show similar coloration to unpalatable models gain a fitness advantage of reduced predation. Beyond physical similarity, mimics often exhibit behaviour similar to their models, further enhancing their protection against predation by mimicking not only the model's physical appearance but also activity. In butterflies, there is a strong correlation between palatability and fl...
متن کاملMolecular basis of wing coloration in a Batesian mimic butterfly, Papilio polytes
Batesian mimicry protects animals from predators through resemblance with distasteful models in shape, color pattern, or behavior. To elucidate the wing coloration mechanisms involved in the mimicry, we investigated chemical composition and gene expression of the pale yellow and red pigments of a swallowtail butterfly, Papilio polytes, whose females mimic the unpalatable butterfly Pachliopta ar...
متن کاملMarine Puddling in Papilio Polytes (lepidoptera: Papilionidae)
Smedly & Eisner (1995, 1996) stressed the difficulties that terrestrial herbivores, including Lepidoptera, suffer in order to fulfill their need for sodium, an essential ion plentiful in the seas, but in short supply in plants. Adult Lepidoptera drink from puddles, edges of streams, carrion, and excreta from which they obtain sodium and proteins (Beck et al. 1999). Puddling behavior is typicall...
متن کاملon translation of phatic communion and socio-cultural relationships between the characters of the novels
